Solemn Commemoration
This month marks the tenth commemoration of the horrendous holocaust in Rwanda. I remember my mission to Rwanda as one of the most traumatic and disturbing and when I was the sickest. I can still remember the blood curdling screams at night, the piles of skulls and wading knee deep in corpses inside shattered churches. My book, Holocaust In Rwanda, has since been translated into French, and has been re-printed due to ongoing demand. Ian Smith of Rhodesia I recently had the privilege of having lunch with Mr Ian Smith, the man who for 15 years was the Prime Minister of Rhodesia. Since 1986 I've had the privilege of meeting with Mr Smith fairly regularly. His daughter lives in Cape Town and he visits at least once a year. Although Mr Smith is in his eighties, and quite frail, his mind is still as sharp as ever and his wit and insights make him a delight to enjoy fellowship with.

Last week we received a letter signed by the President of the Republic of Zambia, Levy Mwanawasa thanking us for “the book Biblical Principles for Africa…this book will not only help me grow spiritually but will assist me to see and appreciate things in a different perspective. …I thank you for your wonderful gift…”
Shortly after this, Frontline Fellowship Board Member and partner, Rev. Bwanali Phiri, arranged for every Member of Parliament in Zambia to receive a personal copy of Biblical Principles for Africa. Last week, Charl, Jeanine and I conducted a Biblical Worldview Seminar for about 50 town councillors and candidates for the ACDP (African Christian Democratic Party) in the Wellington Town Hall. "Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples. For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all …" Psalm 96:3-4
21 YEARS OF GOD'S PROVISION, GUIDANCE, PROTECTION AND BLESSING We praise God for his provision, guidance, protection and blessings throughout 2003. This year we celebrated Frontline Fellowship's 21st Anniversary at a special Missions Rally in the Pinelands Town Hall (14 March). The Chairman of the Board of Frontline Fellowship, Rev. Bill Bathman, and Frontline Fellowship Honorary Member, Rev. Fritz Haus, were our special guest speakers. NEW FIELDS 2003 was a year of tremendous growth in Frontline Fellowship. I had the joy of conducting our first mission trip to Nigeria, conducting Muslim Evangelism Workshops and a Reformation Conference there. I also conducted my first speaking tours to Australia and Canada. On a recent ministry trip, while speaking at a conference at a missions station, I met an old friend who had been a pastor at Walvis Bay. He was recovering from having his shoulder shattered by a high velocity bullet. Two months earlier, this man had been attacked by hijackers, who blocked his way and opened fire on him. He did evasive driving while his companions returned fire and they escaped from the trap.
The day after the government released their "statistics" on how crime in South Africa is on the decrease, my motorbike was stolen from behind a locked gate. The previous week I had spoken, along with Mr Kent Durr and Steve Swart, both Members of Parliament, at a Victims Against Crime dinner in Durbanville. That same day, a good friend of ours was murdered in Durbanville. ![]() Biblical Principles for Africa was officially launched on 12 August at Parliament in Cape Town. Two members of Parliament, Mr Kentkent durr_ph_display Durr of the National Council of Provinces (what used to be called The Senate) and Mrs Cheryllyn Dudley, spoke at the Book Launch. Mr Kent Durr said: "Biblical Principles for Africa is extremely useful for us as Parliamentarians. It is clear and concise… You cannot separate moral and ethical values from economics and justice." Mrs Cheryllyn Dudley M.P. declared: "Biblical Principles for Africa is an awesome hand book and it needs to be in the hands of every one of our people. We need God-fearing men and women in Government." Biblical Principles for Africa has already begun receiving very positive endorsements from Christian leaders in Southern Africa. Missionaries Mobilised through the Great Commission Course
By God's grace, Frontline Fellowship has completed the Great Commission Course in Cape Town. Pastors, evangelists and missionaries came from Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Canada, South Africa and the USA to participate in this uniquely practical, hands-on missions training seminar. At the end of the Great Commission Camp, 19 participants came forward to be prayed for in a Commissioning service. Each of these were going out on various short or long-term mission outreaches, including to Bangladesh, Nigeria, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Spain, Sudan, Zambia and Zimbabwe. MUGABE CLAMPS DOWN ON PRAYER
The ZANU-PF government of Zimbabwe has turned on churches and pastors in a campaign to clamp down on prayers for justice. Over the last months, various church prayer meetings have been dispersed by police. Government officials claimed that these prayer meetings had been “convened without (their) permission” and “in violation of the security laws.” Rev. Sony Chimbuya, of the Church of Christ in Masivingo, and a former senior official of the Zimbabwe Council of Churches, was summonsed by plain clothes police and interrogated as to why he was praying “anti-government prayers.” BIBLES FOR THE UNREACHED IN THE NUBA MOUNTAINS
By God's grace, Frontline Fellowship's Sudan team leader, Tim, has safely returned from another mission trip to Sudan. He succeeded in delivering and distributing to desperately needy Christians in the Nuba Mountains over 1000 Bibles, Hymn books and catechisms in local Nuba languages, multiple sets of audiovisual evangelistic equipment, educational materials and relief aid. Most of the Bibles were in the Krongo language. Not long ago, the Krongo were listed as an unreached peoples group. By God's grace, a high percentage of the Krongo are now confessing Christians and members of evangelical churches. Give thanks to the Lord, call on His Name; make known among the nations what He has done. Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell of all His wondrous acts.” 1 Chronicles 16:8-9
By God's grace, a Frontline Fellowship team has safely returned from a mission outreach to Mozambique, reporting souls saved during special Easter outreaches. Other teams have also succeeded in delivering tonnes of Gospel literature, Bibles, books and emergency relief aid to Zimbabwe and Zambia. Just in time for these mission outreaches, a shipment of over eight tonnes of Gospel booklets arrived from World Missionary Press. Over 70 000 of these Scriptural booklets have already been delivered and distributed throughout Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Mozambique. Others are en-route for Angola, Sudan and Nigeria. ![]() Dear Friends “How awesome is the Lord most high, the great King over all the earth!” Psalm 47:2 We praise God that in the last three months of 2002, we managed to complete three major mission trips into Sudan. The third mission trip in December involved a team of eight, delivering Dinka Bibles, audio visual evangelism equipment, study Bibles and bicycles for pastors. Their leadership training and child evangelism was especially blessed. |
