This year Straatwerk marks 50 years of regular outreaches on the streets of Cape Town. A Frontline Fellowship team joined in with Straatwerk's regular Friday evening outreach on the streets of the inner city. 50 Years of Ministry Rev. Pieter Victor founded this dynamic evangelistic ministry in 1965. For 50 years Straatwerk has been mobilising Christians onto the streets of the inner city to win prostitutes, pimps, night club customers and other street people to the Lord.

"And you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spoke concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one word of them has failed." Joshua 23:14
Ministry Marathon This September marks 20 years of Africa Christian Action's Salt and Light radio programme broadcast every Tuesday night on Radio Tygerberg 104FM in Cape Town. We are informed that this makes Salt and Light the longest running Christian community radio programme in South Africa. Last week I had the privilege of travelling through to Mpumalanga to present a week of lectures at Back to the Bible Training College. This year BBTC celebrates 25 years of providing an intensive three-year training programme for pastors, teachers and Evangelists. The curriculum takes students through every book and chapter of the Bible and brings in lecturers from around the world to train the students in Doctrine, Theology, Hermeneutics, Homiletics, Comparative Religions, Evangelism, Counselling, History and a host of other vital subjects "That the man of God may be thoroughly equipped, to do every good work." Pioneer Missionary Hudson Taylor declared: “God’s work, done God’s way, will never lack God’s supply.”
The Will of God Will Never Lead You Where the Grace of God Cannot Keep You Hudson Taylor not only pioneered the first Inter-denominational Mission Society, but the first Faith Mission. Convinced that “God’s servant is God’s responsibility” and that “The will of God will never lead you where the Grace of God cannot keep you”, Hudson Taylor determined not to engage in fundraising, but to concentrate on the Mission God had entrusted him with. Faith Alone 33 Years ago, as God laid the vision of launching Frontline Fellowship upon my heart, I determined to follow the example of Hudson Taylor in launching Frontline Fellowship as a Faith Mission. Dear Friends Today we are moving mountains of Bibles and books. Just three weeks ago we received the joyful report from the field: "Jordan crossed!" signalling the successful delivery into Zimbabwe of over 30 tonnes of Bibles and Christian books. God's provision, protection and perfect timing were evident throughout the mission. Jordan Crossing Border crossings into Marxist Zimbabwe can always present a challenge. Corruption, confusion and chaos are great daunting obstacles that are often frustrating, intimidating and time-wasting. Even after overcoming the beaurocratic obstacle course at the border, there are multiple roadblocks within the country. One of our recent Mission teams reported passing through over 50 police and army roadblocks in Zimbabwe. So the successful delivery of this shipment to Christians within Zimbabwe was a major answer to prayer. Prayer and Praise Update Dear Friends We praise God for the safe returns of our Mission teams and a series of successful seminars, services and shipments throughout Southern Africa. Mission to Zimbabwe Border crossings into Marxist Zimbabwe always present a challenge! Corruption, confusion and chaos create daunting obstacles that are frustrating, intimidating and time-wasting. Even after overcoming the bureaucratic obstacle course at the border, there are multiple roadblocks within the country. On this recent Mission, our team passed through over 50 police and army roadblocks! The last 48 hours have been ‘one of God’s all things’ in terms of His perfect timing. I thought you would enjoy hearing this story…… Most of you are aware of the fact that we take delivery of literally tonnes of Bibles and Christian Literature on a regular basis. This has greatly enhanced our ability to distribute good Scriptural literature to the people we minister to, but has also enabled us to share Bibles & Books with other ministries. One such opportunity has been the delivery and shipment of several tonnes of Bibles for use in Restricted Access Areas. Dear Friends
Bad times are good for spiritual work. Our biggest enemy is apathy. Opposition can often make us stronger. When things are dark the light shines brighter. Amidst tremendous upheavals and violence, God's people are standing firm and persevering in Africa. A Time of Violence Xenophobic mob murders against foreigners and brutal murders of farmers in South Africa. Islamic Al-Shabaab terrorists massacred over 140 students in Kenya, specifically targeting Christians for beheadings. There have been attacks on churches and murders of pastors in Tanzania and threats by the Minister of Home Affairs to deregister churches who resist incorporating Shari'a changes to the Tanzanian constitution. Vicious attacks on Christian communities and bombings of churches in Nigeria by Boko Haram Jihadists. There have been beheadings of Egyptian Coptic Christians and Ethiopian Christians by ISIS terrorists, shouting "Allah Akbar". These are only some of the recent high profile examples of a relentless war against Christians intensifying in Africa. For your edification, and for intercession, here is a selection of written responses that we have received on our Sermon.Audio.compage. Please continue to lift up these people and countries in prayer, and to intercede that our audio sermons may continue to renew minds, transform lives, change hearts and disciple nations.
Bible Survey - Daniel "Great Sermon! I thoroughly enjoy your Bible Series! Are there more to come?" Lynn, Canada. Bible Survey - Genesis "Great Sermon! Thank you for this tremendous summary of Genesis filled with truth, wisdom and knowledge. Everyone should listen to this sermon so they can have a firm foundation for their Faith." SuzAnn, California. War on Christians in the Middle East "Great Sermon! Well said, uncompromising stand for the truth." Alexander Young, Arizona. Praying for Good Weather Last week, Thursday, the day after I returned from a Mission overseas, we received another 20 foot container shipment of 18 tonnes of Bibles and books. As we are in the middle of a very cold and wet winter in Cape Town, we were earnestly praying for good weather on the day that the container was delivered for us to offload. Logistical Challenges By God's grace, despite intense rain both the day before and after, Thursday was cloudy, overcast and cold, but dry! As the containers cannot fit down our narrow driveway to our stores, they need to be offloaded by hand and are normally ferried by our pickup trucks down the long and narrow driveway. |
