The Rhodesian Christian Group Newsletter - Victims of Communism
Amid the cries of a better future for Zimbabwe with at last the swearing in of Morgan Tsvangirai as Prime Minister, the sudden death of Susan Tsvangirai, wife of Morgan, has erupted in the media as an assassination car crash. One newspaper in the United Kingdom stated that it strongly believed that efforts were being made to derail the progress of the new inclusive government. It gave emphasis to what is called the fact that a lot of Robert Mugabe's opponents died in suspicious road accidents, involving army trucks.

Used with permission. www.britishisrael.co.uk “Ian Smith was right after all …” The above headline we have waited for many years to see appeared in the Daily Mail, London, for 19 th March, 2007, under Peter McKay’s column. The disaster of Zimbabwe is now so terrible that it has become possible to say in a British newspaper what for decades it has not been possible to say and remain credible in politically correct terms. PROLIFE: Sanctity Life Sunday: Prayer of Repentance
Almighty God, we bow before You our Creator, You are the One who has given us life and health, talents, gifts and opportunities for service. Every breath we breathe is a gift of Your grace. We acknowledge that You are also the Eternal Judge before Whom each one of us must stand and give an account of our lives. Have mercy upon us. Lord. Do not treat us as we deserve. We plead for Your mercy - for Your grace. Your undeserved favour. For we confess that we are a sinful people and we are part of a nation in rebellion against You. ![]() The humanitarian disaster in Zimbabwe has been described as a “man made tsunami.” Many of the people in this longsuffering country who have watched their homes and churches being bulldozed and burned by Mugabe's army and police are calling it: “the Mugabe tsunami.” The systematic human rights abuses and persecution of Christians by Robert Mugabe's ZANU-PF regime are well documented. However, the media coverage of the Communist catastrophe in Zimbabwe has been surprisingly subdued. Public outrage in neighbouring countries has often been absent and humanitarian concern has been erratic and inadequate. Christians in Zimbabwe are shocked that so many of their African brothers support the oppressive government of Mugabe and seem unconcerned about their afflictions. Looking Back To My First Visit in 1977
This is the transcript of Rev. Bill Bathman’s message at the Pinelands Town Hall on the occasion of the 40 th Anniversary of Rhodesia’s UDI: From South Africa we traveled north to Rhodesia. September marks the beginning of Spring and the Jacaranda trees were in full bloom. Downtown Salisbury was busy and indeed thriving, in spite of “big bully” sanctions imposed on them by the two super powers and the United Nations. November 2007
Numerous major Chinese weapons shipments have been received by governments in Africa, often in exchange for oil deals. Angola, Algeria, the Congo, Ethiopia, Mauritania, Sudan and Zimbabwe have recently purchased weapons from Red China. Angola Oil from Angola now makes up approximately 14% of China’s annual oil imports (valued at $6.58 billion). In 2005 Angola exported over 17 million tons of crude oil to China. The China Petro Chemical Corporation last year signed a $1.4 billion deal with the Angolan Sonangol Company to develop new oil fields. China also offered Angola a loan of $3 billion. Angola has ordered eight SU-27SK fighter jets from Red China. 83% of Zimbabwe’s wildlife has been destroyed by Mugabe’s state sponsored chaos according to the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force. Inflation is over 4500%. Unemployment is over 85%. Power failures for days on end even in the capital, Harare, are common. Shops are empty. Starvation is rampant.
It takes much longer to build than to destroy. For example, it took the Americans seven years to build the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre in New York, but it only took an hour for Muslim terrorists to destroy that remarkable feat of engineering. Similarly, while it took 90 years to build Rhodesia into one of the most efficient and productive agricultural economies in Africa, it has taken Robert Mugabe and his Marxist government less than 27 years to destroy it. Despite the international ban on ivory poaching, the Marxist ZANU Government of Zimbabwe has been selling ivory to Red China in exchange for jet fighters, tanks and other military hardware.
DOCUMENTING A DISASTER The Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force has documented the widespread destruction of wildlife in Zimbabwe in a devastating report. Some 90% of the animals have been destroyed since 2000 when President Robert Mugabe began seizing and dividing productive white commercial farms into smaller plots to divide amongst his supporters. The ZCTF documents massive deforestation and widespread slaughter of the wildlife. According to the report Zimbabwe had 620 private game sanctuaries before the land invasions began. Now only 14 remain. Of the 14 conservancies before 2000, only 1 remains. Zimbabwe is alone. She has only herself to fight her battle.
The Aid Agencies are indeed doing all they can. They bring food and relief. But their help is, and must be, entirely humanitarian. They can do nothing to end the tyranny. The previous British Prime Minister was enthusiastic to intervene to save Sierra Leone. In his farewell visit to Africa, however, he said Zimbabwe is a problem for the Africans, and left the country to the “quiet diplomacy” of President Mbeki of South Africa. The regional Southern African Development Community has done the same thing. This “diplomacy” has achieved virtually nothing in the past and is unlikely - in spite of some initial tentative moves - to achieve much more in the future. Power Failures
It is said that Zimbabwe doesn’t really have power failures, they occasionally have electricity! The state-owned Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) schedules programmes of rolling black outs which have seen households going without electricity for many hours, sometimes days. A Harare newspaper, The Daily News, reports that ZESA narrowly escaped being cut off from its key power supplier in Mozambique over non-payment of a £47million bill. The Daily News also revealed that ZANU-PF cabinet ministers have accumulated over £650,000 in unpaid bills. |
