For your edification, inspiration and for intercession, here is a small selection of remarkable, written responses that we have received by mail, or e-mail, from friends and supporters and from the field, in this last year. Please continue to lift up these people and countries in prayer. Please continue to intercede that our publications, outreaches and courses may continue to renew minds, transform lives, change hearts and disciple nations.
Inspiration “Peter, may you grow from strength to strength. I remember when you came to the Assemblies of God Church back in 1986...that was an inspiration!” G. F. Encouragement “I am encouraged and am learning from your footsteps. I deeply appreciate your guiding literature. I am currently in Kenya and Somalia, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. May the Almighty God strengthen this dedicated ministry and calling.” S., Kenya ![]() “Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 2:4-5 Africa Reformation Overland Mission Team Returns Since our last Prayer and Praise Update, two months ago, much has happened. We praise God for the safe return of our Africa Reformation Mission team who travelled over 15,000km, conducting over 117 meetings across 7 countries, including: Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Swaziland, Botswana and Namibia. You can read the reports of Abrie, Daniel, Alieske, Tobie and Talita on our www.FrontlineMissionSA.org website and in the latest Frontline Fellowship News, which is available online. ![]() “Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.” 2 Timothy 4:2 Back to Barberton My first speaking engagement was at the Sunday morning worship service of the Dutch Reformed Church in Barberton. Rev. Piet Erasmus, the Founder of Back to the Bible Mission, was once a pastor of this church. One of his first staff members was our missionary, George Bezuidenhout, who was also a member of this congregation. I recruited George into the Mission from Infantry School in Oudtshoorn and we put him through Baptist Theological College. George had also been arrested and imprisoned with me in Mozambique in 1989. When Dominee Erasmus began Back to the Bible Mission in February 1990, with just five students, we loaned him George as a co-worker for their first year. ![]() “Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.” 2 Timothy 4:2 Mission to Tanzania As I write this update, our Africa Reformation Overland Mission team is leaving Tanzania. Tanzania is a huge country in East Africa. It has a population of over 50 million, compromising more than 150 indigenous ethnic groups. Swahili and English are its official languages. Literacy is estimated at 69%. As a result of disastrous socialist experiments in the 60s and 70s, which they are still trying to recover from, Tanzania is one of the world’s poorest nations. By God's grace the one party socialist system was ended in 1992 and a multiparty democracy was instituted. There is religious freedom, with nominal Christians over 54% and Muslims 31%. Animists are estimated at over 12% and less than 1% are Hindu. Protestants make up over 8 million (18% of the population). The Evangelical Lutherans are their largest denomination, with over 2,700 congregations and 3.4 million affiliates. Our Mission team’s priorities on this mission are leadership training, literature distribution, film evangelism, children’s ministry and Biblical Preaching Workshops for pastors. ![]() “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.” Isaiah 43:2 Bad Times are Good for Spiritual Work As I write this there are daily riots in the streets in almost every province of South Africa. The ANC controlled parliament are holding public hearings to demonstrate public support for their plan to change the constitution to allow “Expropriation Without Compensation” – basically, land confiscations. With such a blatant attempt to subvert private ownership of property, the rule of law and tear up constitutional guarantees, there is a growing lawlessness spreading throughout the country (See: Is South Africa Entering the Second Phase of the Revolution?). We praise God for His blessing and protection of Joseph, Francis, Emma and myself who have returned from a packed and productive Mission around South Africa. We drove over 4,000km, conducted 45 meetings, including 4 church services, 3 school assemblies, a Biblical Worldview Seminar in Pretoria, a Bible College Consultation, a Youth conference, ministry at 4 Missions, 25 presentations and sermons and recording 20 devotions for Radio Khwezi.
Literature for South Africa We also delivered Bibles and books to many different ministries, Missions and churches for Literature4Africa. All in all our team delivered and distributed over 2.5 tonnes of Bibles, books, Gospel booklets, tracts and audio visual materials to 18 venues in 6 Provinces of South Africa. “From beyond the rivers of Cush, My worshipers, My scattered people,
will bring Me offerings.” Zephaniah 3:10 The Largest Shipment of Bibles Ever Smuggled into an Officially Islamic Country We praise God for the safe return of our Missionaries from North Africa. By God's grace, John, Ben, Hunter and Abrie succeeded in delivering and distributing over 32,000 Bibles and 43,000 The Story of Jesus Christ full colour picture books to 130 schools and numerous churches throughout the remote and war-devastated Nuba Mountains of Sudan. For the Kingdom is the Lord’s and He rules over the nations.” Psalm 22:27-28 Historic Church City Tabernacle Baptist Church in Brisbane is an historic church dating back to the 1850s and was established by a missionary sent out by Charles Spurgeon. It is one of the oldest churches in Queensland. The first Baptist Church building in Brisbane was opened in Wharf Street in 1859. The church then moved to the present site on Wickham Terrace. This impressive, classical Venetian style building stands in one of the highest parts of the city and was opened to the Glory of God in 1890. The first minister, Rev. William Whale, was sent out by Charles Spurgeon. For many years the Baptist Theological College met in the tower of this church and the local ministers’ fraternal used it as their meeting place. In the early 1900s a private school for girls was launched in the basement of the church. Today a company of the Boys and Girls Brigade meet in the basement of the church. ![]() Dear Friends Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. “That at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in Heaven and of those on earth and of those under the earth and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:10-11 ![]() Latest Frontline News Available The latest Frontline Fellowship News is available online.
