![]() “Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His Name; make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing Psalms to Him; talk of all His wondrous works! Glory in His holy Name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord! Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face evermore! Remember His marvellous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,” 1 Chronicles 16:8-12 Working for Reformation Today This was my fourth Mission in four months. We have been promoting 2017 as Reformation 500 for many years, actually, since my Mission to Europe in 2005, so it is understandable that we have received many invitations to conduct Reformation 500 conferences in so many countries.

![]() Dear friends, It seems that life, much like a book, is filled with many, many chapters. Some are filled with highs, while others with lows. Some drag out in mundane monotony, while others glide by in their exceptional noteworthiness. The past two and a half years working with International Students Incorporated (ISI) has been one of those latter chapters, filled with some of the most wonderful experiences for our family. Sadly, our chapter with ISI is soon drawing to its close. Due to our plan to move to Cape Town later this year and with the academic school year coming to an end for our student friends, our time on staff has come to a close with ISI. We are so grateful for all we have learned from our partnership with ISI and the amazing community we have become a part of because of it. ![]() Dear Intercessors and Supporters "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His Name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting and His truth endures to all generations."Psalm 100:4-5 We are most grateful to Almighty God for His mercy, provision, guidance and protection throughout this last year. Among the many highlights were Missions to Kenya, Zimbabwe and Egypt, hosting the Eurochor during the Reformation events in Cape Town, invitations to participate in the KwaSizabantu Youth Conference, the Presbyterian Evangelistic Fellowship Family Conference at Covenant College, Lookout Mountain, Georgia and a record number of new publications completed. ![]() "Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim the good news of His Salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples. For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised; He is also to be feared above all…" 1 Chronicles 16:23-25 Eurochor in Cape Town We praise God for a most blessed, inspiring and empowering series of Reformation celebration events and outreaches in Cape Town. Making this year's Reformation celebrations absolutely unique was the arrival of the Eurochor. With over 140 members drawn from Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania and Switzerland, this International Christian Youth Choir has thrilled audiences throughout the world with their multilingual, varied, colourful and captivating concerts. ![]() Dear Friends Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…" Hosea 4:6 Fifth Mission in Five Months By God's Grace I have safely returned from another Mission to America. This was my fifth mission in five months. With a whirlwind of writing deadlines, printing projects and outreaches, it seemed that I had barely unpacked from the Mission to Kenya then I was racing off to the airport again to fly all across to the West coast of America, to Seattle and from there to Idaho. I left Cape Town exhausted and being squeezed into middle seats on the long international legs of this journey, bumped and jostled from all sides ensured that I arrived even more tired and jet lagged. ![]() Dear Friends Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. "Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples. For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised…" 1 Chronicles 16:24-25 The Greatest Century of Missions When Walter contacted me for permission to re-print 10,000 copies of The Greatest Century of Missions book, I knew that I had to do a complete revision, expansion and update. SIM wanted these books for distribution to pastors, teachers and youth leaders throughout East Africa. They also wanted to me be their guest speaker at a series of conferences to introduce this Youth Workers Toolkit, as they described the selection of books that they were seeking to provide. The original 2002 edition of The Greatest Century of Missions had sold out of the print run of 6,000 copies. I had been seriously considering the need for an improved, updated and expanded edition and this request from our Missionary friends in East Africa provided the catalyst needed. Now expanded to 224 pages with over 200 pictures, photographs, maps and charts, The Greatest Century of Missionsis a treasure trove of incredible adventures, inspiring exploits and unbelievable achievements of some of the most extraordinary people in the most momentous era of Christian advance. ![]() Dear Friends Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. "Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples." Psalm 96:3 Answers to Prayer It is always encouraging to receive testimonies of God's grace and see abiding fruit of previous Missions. During our recent month-long Mission throughout South Africa, we were tremendously blessed and challenged by numerous testimonies of God's gracious answers to prayer. ![]() LET THE EARTH HEAR HIS VOICE Dear Friends Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. "Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His Name; make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing Psalms to Him; talk of all His wondrous works! Glory in His holy Name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord! Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face evermore! Remember His marvellous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth." 1 Chronicles 16:8-12 New Publications Produced We praise God for a series of vital publications completed and received back from the printers in time for our field teams to deliver throughout South Africa and across the border to donate to Bible Colleges, Missions, churches and Evangelists. ![]() MOVING MOUNTAINS Dear Friends Today we are moving mountains of Bibles and books. Just three weeks ago we received the joyful report from the field: "Jordan crossed!" signalling the successful delivery into Zimbabwe of over 30 tonnes of Bibles and Christian books. God's provision, protection and perfect timing were evident throughout the mission. STRENGTHENING PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS
TO SURVIVE A TSUNAMI OF VIOLENCE Dear Friends Bad times are good for spiritual work. Our biggest enemy is apathy. Opposition can often make us stronger. When things are dark the light shines brighter. Amidst tremendous upheavals and violence, God's people are standing firm and persevering in Africa. A Time of Violence Xenophobic mob murders against foreigners and brutal murders of farmers in South Africa. Islamic Al-Shabaab terrorists massacred over 140 students in Kenya, specifically targeting Christians for beheadings. There have been attacks on churches and murders of pastors in Tanzania and threats by the Minister of Home Affairs to deregister churches who resist incorporating Shari'a changes to the Tanzanian constitution. Vicious attacks on Christian communities and bombings of churches in Nigeria by Boko Haram Jihadists. There have been beheadings of Egyptian Coptic Christians and Ethiopian Christians by ISIS terrorists, shouting "Allah Akbar". These are only some of the recent high profile examples of a relentless war against Christians intensifying in Africa. |
