By God's grace a team of American volunteers have safely returned from a mission to Zimbabwe.
Surprised They reported being surprised by the incredible beauty of the countryside and the friendliness of the people. Four out of the five team members from America had previously conducted short term mission outreaches in West Africa, and they were very pleasantly surprised to find that almost everybody in Zimbabwe spoke English! They were also astounded at the pleasant weather in Zimbabwe in May. Their experiences in West Africa had been of hot, humid days and sweltering nights. However, as much of Zimbabwe lies at fairly high altitudes, the climate is much more pleasant than in most of Africa.

Mission to Zimbabwe
By God’s grace a number of Frontline Fellowship Mission teams have returned from a complex series of mission outreaches to Zimbabwe. Over a ton of Bibles, Christian books, ministry DVDs and Gospel literature were delivered to a variety of ministries, mission bases, Bible schools and churches, and Boxes With Love were distributed to destitute pensioners. Orphans, pensioners and hospital patients were ministered to. Lectures were provided to Christian businessmen. Team members took part in a work party in a ground breaking effort to launch an agricultural initiative and to conduct maintenance at a church building. Children at a school for the deaf were ministered to and hands-on ministry included renovations and improvements at a prison and hospital. Mission to Malawi
By God’s grace, a Frontline Mission team has completed a blessed time of ministry to the Central African nation of Malawi. For ten years Malawi was run by a Muslim president and many hundreds of mosques were built throughout that land. Today Malawi has a Christian president Dr. Bingu Wa Mutharika, who has ordered copies of our Biblical Principles for Africa book for his parliamentarians. Dr. Wa Mutharika described Biblical Principles for Africa as: “God’s Wisdom.” The Frontline Mission team was able to conduct leadership training for evangelists and participate in outreaches in a remote part of Malawi. They were very conscious that they were ministering in an area first pioneered by Dr. David Livingstone one hundred and fifty years ago. Mission to Zambia
Our Mission trip to Zambia coincided with intense rainfall and there was flooding in many of the areas visited. I had to drive through muddy, potholed roads and rivers, swamp areas and lakes, where thousands of homes, and many churches, were under water. However, none of this dampened the tremendous enthusiasm for the ministry and on numerous occasions, large numbers of people made public commitments to Christ at the end of the service. Chaplains Ministry My hosts organized a VIP reception which whisked me passed customs and immigration procedures. I was received by the Minister of Home Affairs, Minister Lameck Mangani. The Honorable Mangani expressed interest in Frontline Fellowship assisting with the training of police and prison chaplains and supplying Evangelistic and Discipleship materials for prisons. Outreaches and Leadership Training
Frontline Fellowship ended last year with a series of Mission outreaches and Leadership training courses in Mpumalanga, Mozambique, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Zambia. We began the New Year with an outreach with evangelist Paul Young on New Year’s Day at the Pavilion on Muizenberg beachfront and launching our Biblical Worldview Summit (1-8 January) in the forest amidst the Hottentots Holland Mountains. Over 90 participants registered, travelling from as far afield as Nigeria, Kenya, Malawi, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and from the USA. Dear Friends
By God’s grace, 2009 has been a tremendous year of mission trips on three continents, new mission vehicles purchased, numerous cross-border emergency relief missions to Zimbabwe, Biblical Worldview Seminars conducted in different parts of South Africa and massive shipments of Bibles and books received from overseas and distributed widely throughout Southern Africa. Our audiovisual materials have mushroomed. We published The Ten Commandments – God’s Perfect Law of Liberty and The Apostles Creed – Firm Foundations for Your Faith. AND CHRISTOPHER’S KIDNEY TRANSPLANT
Mission to Mpumalanga To reach the remote Bible College I had to drive through a spectacular electric thunderstorm and cross a swollen river in flood. The low level bridge could not even be seen. I have experience in crossing flooded rivers, particularly in Sudan, but that was in four wheel drive high clearance vehicles. On this occasion I was in a normal car and could not even see the bridge. The single lane bridge evidently did not even have side railings. It was truly a faith mission. When I arrived in time for the scheduled Biblical Worldview Seminar the students and staff of the Back to the Bible Training College were surprised to see me as they did not expect me to be able to make it across the swollen river. Serving the Suffering in Zimbabwe
As many churches worldwide observed Sunday, 8 November as the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church another Frontline Fellowship mission team was delivering life saving medicines and food, along with Bibles, evangelistic and discipleship materials to pastors, pensioners and prisoners in Zimbabwe. “It was a nightmare …” reported our team leader. The Frontline Fellowship mission to Zimbabwe coincided with a nationwide wave of military roadblocks, arrests, beatings, tortures and murders by ZANU-PF soldiers, militia and secret police. Despite numerous difficulties, delays and frustrations at border posts the team succeeded in overcoming all obstacles in this volatile situation, delivering the desperately needed supplies to the suffering. Confronting Communists on Campus
By God’s grace, I safely returned from a very packed and productive ministry tour to the USA. Coinciding with the 60 th anniversary with the communist takeover of China, and the 20 th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the opening up of the Iron Curtain, I was invited to speak at three different university campuses in Minnesota. At the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, at the Minnesota State University in Mankato, and at the University of St. Cloud, I spoke on The Consequences of Socialism, The Cost of Communism and The Failure of The Soviet Union. The university meetings were well organised and widely advertised by Maranatha Christian Fellowship. This was the sixth series of meetings organised at these state universities. Previously I had been invited to speak on the Persecution of Christians in Sudan, Slavery – The Untold Story, The Crusades vs. Jihad and other persecutions of the Church. On this occasion the advertised subjects of socialism and communism drew out individuals who sought to defend atheism, evolutionism, Marxism and socialism. The discussions after the presentations were often interesting. As we are receiving new resources and shipments, and are about to launch a series of leadership training courses, outreaches and field trips - I thought it wise to update you on developments and request your earnest prayers.
Missions at the Mall Firstly, thank you very much for all those who prayed for, or were involved in making possible, the missions at the mall. On South Africa’s National Women’s Day, we were able to set up literature tables and displays in malls around Cape Town and as far afield as KwaZulu Natal and Limpopo Province. Tens of thousands of leaflets and Gospel tracts were printed and three thousand balloons with Scriptures or pro-family messages were produced for the event. Over 60 volunteers took part in the various outreaches and numerous evangelistic discussions ensued. Using Way of the Master evangelistic tracts, we were able to take many shoppers through The Ten Commandments to show them their need for Christ. |
