To Zimbabwe With Love
The Frontline Mission HQ was a hive of activity late into the night as over 20 volunteers helped us assemble Boxes with Love and load tons of books, Bibles, food and medicines for Zimbabwe. Six field workers and couriers with two vehicles were sent out with much prayer. Their priorities were to deliver desperately needed food and lifesaving medicines to pastors, pensioners and prisoners. Despite numerous difficulties, delays and frustrations at border posts, the teams ultimately succeeded in overcoming all obstacles and delivering the much needed supplies to churches, missions, hospitals and prisons. As John reported: “When you see the appreciation, gratitude and affection shown on delivery, there is no way but to look forward to the next mission trip…` I was hungry and you fed Me, I was naked and you clothed Me …’ this is one of the most important aspects of mission work. The harvest is ripe and the labourers are few …”

MISSION TEAMS SENT OUT
By God’s grace, since my return from an overseas speaking tour, we have sent out two mission teams to Zimbabwe. Over 20 volunteers gathered at the mission to help assemble Boxes With Love and pack and load the vehicles with tons of Gospel literature, food and Boxes With Love for pensioners, prisoners and pastors in Zimbabwe. CONGO Last week we also had a Congolese Bishop visit our mission. In the Congo, he is responsible for 70 pastors, 60 congregations and 6 000 members. Participants From Africa, Europe and the USA
By God’s grace, our Reclaiming Africa for Christ Biblical Worldview Summit at Mizpah was a tremendous week of blessing and challenge. Over 80 participants registered from afar afield as Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, from all over South Africa, and from France and the USA. Speakers for Africa The BWS included 18 speakers, including veteran missionary, Rev. Bill Bathman, Mrs Dorothea Scarborough of the Gospel Defence League, Gerhard Le Roux and George Oesche of KwaSizabantu Mission, Jerusha Olsen of True Love Waits, Creation Scientist Philip Stott, John Leach of Waymakers, American Chalk Talk Evangelist Paul Young, Zimbabwe Human Rights Activist Collen Makumbirofa of the Foundation of Reason and Justice, ACDP Member of Parliament Cheryllyn Dudley, Music and Art critic Carl Fourie, the Co-ordinator of Africa Christian Action, Taryn Hodgson, the Director of Africa Christian Action, Charl van Wyk, the Director of the Christian Action Network, Dr. Peter Hammond, and his wife, Lenora Hammond. By God's grace, our mission team to Zimbabwe succeeded in delivering Boxes With Love, food, Gospel booklets, Bible commentaries, evangelistic and discipleship materials and medical supplies to hospitals, pensioners, churches and ministries in Zimbabwe.
Overcoming Obstacles As we were packing and preparing for this mission trip, news came through that the borders to Zimbabwe were closed, amidst massive congestion and chaos at the borders. Numerous contacts advised us that we had to postpone the trip as the doors to Zimbabwe were firmly closed. Container
By God's grace the long awaited 10 tonne container of Bibles and books safely arrived in Cape Town and was delivered to our mission amidst much praise and thanksgiving. Shipments of this size entail an enormous amount of work, organisation and expense. We pray that the Lord may abundantly bless and reward each one involved for their magnificent missionary vision and foresight in providing us with such a generous quantity of God's Word, and with the evangelistic and discipleship materials that we, and those whom we serve, so desperately need and appreciate. In preparation for receiving this shipment, we extended our storage area and had our garage resealed to ensure the protection of all literature from any dampness. We also purchased more pallets to ensure that all boxes were kept off the ground and dry. “We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generations to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.” Psalm 78:4
Reformation and the Great Commission By God’s grace, 2008 has been a record-breaking year for publications and projects, laying solid foundations for Biblical Reformation, and in effective mission outreaches to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have enjoyed some tremendous ministry trips and outreaches where we have had the joy of seeing people brought to conviction of sin, souls saved and lives transformed by the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “Proclaim the Good News of His Salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.” Psalm 96:2-3
By God’s grace, my 9-year old son, Calvin, and I, have safely returned from a 4,000 kilometre mission trip around South Africa by road. In just under three weeks we ministered in 4 provinces, speaking at 9 different schools, 5 churches, 2 mission stations, on 2 radio stations, at a teacher training college, a university, 2 conferences and 3 Christian Action groups. All in all, I conducted over 50 meetings. Calvin assisted with training in Evangelism Explosion and The Way of the Master. Sometimes Calvin took Sunday schools and primary school classes alone, while I was busy with services, radio interviews, or other school lectures. Every year, since 1995, Africa Christian Action has used National Women’s Day on 9 August, as an opportunity for outreaches in shopping centres. This year ACA mobilised outreaches in shopping centres countrywide. Tens of thousands of leaflets and Gospel tracts were printed and 3,000 balloons with Scriptures and pro-family messages were produced for the event. Taryn made up many boxes of literature, balloons and posters to be shipped to Christian Action contacts as far afield as Port Alfred, Trompsburg, Queenstown and Mossel Bay. We especially printed copies of: “The Christian Liberation of Women”, “The Greatest Book in the World” and “Women Need Protection and Respect” for these outreaches.
The Great Commission is Our Supreme Ambition
By God’s grace, our three-week Great Commission Course was most blessed and successful. Participants registered from as far afield as Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, from all over South Africa, and from France and the USA. The first week of the Great Commission Course incorporated the Reclaiming Africa for Christ Biblical Worldview Summit (27 June – 4 July). This was held at the Mizpah Conference Centre near Grabouw. Mizpah is set up in the mountains in a nature reserve overlooking a dam. Including day visitors, we had over 80 participants and 18 lecturers. The programme was varied including discussion groups, Bible Drill, worship services, sports, hikes, daily P.T., inspiring lectures and PowerPoint presentations, Science and Scripture Workshops, an Evangelism Workshop, a Christian Action Workshop, films, a Bible exam, and outreaches into the local town and townships of Grabouw. The Great Commission is our Supreme Ambition
We are only a week away from the commencement of our Great Commission Course. Participants from as far afield as Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe and the USA are registered for this intense, uniquely practical hands-on missionary course. Transforming Nations by Changing Lives The first week of the three-week GCC will be the Reclaiming Africa for Christ Biblical Worldview Summit (27 June – 4 July). The Biblical Worldview Summit (BWS) seeks to transform nations by changing lives – applying the Lordship of Christ to every area of life. |
